Instant message settings

Show emoticons in instant messages Select this check box to display emoticons as images in instant messaging conversations. If you clear this check box, emoticons appear as text characters only in the Conversation area of your Conversation window during an instant messaging session. The emoticon image will continue to appear in the message entry area of your Conversation window and it will appear as an image to instant message recipients, depending on their settings.

Change the background color when the writer changes Select this option so that each time the writer changes, the background color changes so that you can more easily differentiate messages from different writers.

Show color band in instant messages Select this check box to alternate between white and blue each time the sender of the message changes. This option makes the conversation area easier to read by differentiating between senders.

Change Font Select this option to modify the font family, color, and point size applied to the instant message text. If you choose a font family that another participant's computer does not have, Communicator substitutes a font to display to the contact. Changes made to the font from the Change Font dialog box persists across all your instant messages.
File transfer

Browse Click Browse to change the location of files that are received through Communicator's file transfer process.
Windows Media Player

Pause Microsoft Windows Media Player for calls, video calls, and conferences Select this option if you want to pause Windows Media Player for outgoing and incoming audio and video calls, as well as conferences.
Language

Select the language for Communicator Select the language that you want to appear in the Communicator user interface and messages.
Note: Multiple languages will appear if you have installed the Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Package for Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2.
Quality

Allow Microsoft to collect anonymous information about how I use Communicator When you choose to participate, Communicator automatically sends information to Microsoft about how you use the product. Participation in the program is voluntary and the results are used to improve the product.
Logging

Turn on logging in Communicator You can enable this option to create a log file, Communicator-uccapi-0.uccapilog, that contains information about the interaction of Office Communicator 2007 R2 with Office Communications Server 2007 R2. The Communicator-uccapi-0.uccapilog file is created in the Windows <user profile>\Tracing folder. This option also creates a Communicator.etl file, which is trace file that is created for administrators and Microsoft Customer Service and Support to help troubleshoot issues.
Note: To enable Turn on logging in Communicator, you must be a member of the Performance Log Users group.

Turn on Windows Event logging for Communicator Select this option to turn on Windows Event logging for Communicator. Events can be viewed in the Windows Event Viewer.
