Voice and Video Device Issue

Voice and Video Device Issue

Voice call quality for Office Communicator 2007 R2 and Live Meeting 2007 depends on the quality of devices used for audio. The Office Communicator 2007 R2 and Live Meeting Console 2007 software handle a wide range of devices and still maintain high quality audio. However, certain devices may cause echo in the call. To reduce the effect of echoes, the Office Communicator and Live Meeting platforms trigger a voice switching mode, which limits the ability for talkers to speak at the same time.

Common causes of poor device quality

Common causes for poor device quality include the following:

  • Non-optimized devices    Occurs when the device is not in the list of devices optimized for Office Communicator, which is available on Microsoft TechNet at Microsoft Unified Communications: Phones and Devices Optimized for Microsoft Office Communicator.

  • Third-party, value-add audio driver or software is installed    In some cases, third-party driver or software may interfere with the real-time features of Office Communicator 2007 R2.

  • Physical damage to the device
