Explanation

Communication with AOL, Yahoo!, MSN, and Windows Live users requires Public IM Connectivity to be enabled in your organization. Public IM Connectivity allows corporate users of Office Communicator 2007 to connect with customers and partners utilizing Windows Live, MSN, AOL, and Yahoo! IM services. With Public IM Connecivity, users can add contacts, send instant messages, and share presence information with users on MSN, Windows Live, AOL, and Yahoo! networks.

Cause

Public IM Connectivity requires a per-user, per-month subscription license that is in addition to the Office Communications Server Client Access License (CAL). In addition, administrators can authorize public IM connectivity on a per-user basis.

Resolution

Contact your system administrator to determine if you are enabled for Public IM Connectivity.
