Make and receive calls

Make and receive calls

You can use the Contacts list to call one or more internal co-workers or federated contacts (outside partners whose company is federated or connected to yours), or you can call an outside number by typing the number in the search field.

When you first sign in to Lync on your Android phone, you'll be guided to update your mobile number. This will allow you to make and receive calls from Lync.

Set your mobile phone number

The mobile phone number that is specified is used by Microsoft Lync Server 2010 to connect you to online meetings and to set up outgoing work calls. When you first sign in to Lync on your mobile device, you'll be guided to enter your mobile number. You can view or change this mobile number at any time by doing the following:

  1. From the My info screen, tap Options.

  2. On the Options screen, tap Meeting access.

  3. On the Meeting access settings screen, view your mobile number. To change it, tap New number, and then type a new phone number in the box.

Make a call

Calls made using Lync are not Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). When you make or receive a Lync call, your carrier's minutes are being used. To call someone in your Contacts list, do the following:

  1. From the Contacts screen, press the Menu button. Tap Search, and then start typing a person's name in the search box.

  2. When you find the contact you're looking for, tap the contact's name, and then tap the number you want to call.

  3. Tap the Phone icon.

Receive a call

When a Lync contact calls you, the incoming call comes in as normal call on your mobile phone.
