Starting an Office Communicator conversation

If you are logged into Office Communicator, you can start a new conversation by double-clicking any contact in your contact list in the Launchbar, or any member in a workspace member list.

If you are not logged into Office Communicator, double-clicking contacts or members opens the Send Message window.

Note: If you try to start an Office Communicator conversation with someone who is not running Office Communicator, a message displays telling you that Communicator was unable to deliver the message. If you are unable to start an Office Communicator conversation, try sending a message instead.

You can also point at any contact to display a contact card that displays information about the contact and allows you to start other messaging activities, such as sending an e-mail or scheduling a meeting.
