Link a task from Outlook to a Business Contact Manager record

Link a task from Outlook to a Business Contact Manager record

To help you track your customer interactions, you can link a task from Outlook to a record in Business Contact Manager for Outlook. When you link a task to an Account record, Business Contact record, or Opportunity record, the task appears in the Communication History section of the record as well as in the Communication History folder.

  1. On the Go menu, click Tasks.

  2. In the Tasks list, select the task that you want to link to a record.

  3. On the Task tab, in the Business Contact Manager group, click Link to Record.

  4. In the Link to Business Contact Manager record dialog box, select the type of record that you want to link the task to in the Folder box.

  5. Type a name or select one from the list. You can select multiple names by using the SHIFT key to select names next to each other, or the CTRL key to select individual names in the list.

  6. Click Link To, and then click OK.

    Notes:

    • If you delete the task from within Outlook, you can still view information about the task in the Communication History section of the record or in the Communication History folder. However, attachments from a deleted task are not stored in Business Contact Manager for Outlook.

    • You cannot link to a task directly from the To-Do Bar. Instead, select the task and open and then follow the instructions given earlier.
