Text dialog box (Text Block tab)

Sets the vertical alignment, margins, and background color for the selected text block.

Alignment

Note The Vertical Text option is available when Asian text is set to Show on the Regional tab of the Options dialog box, or when Asian text is set to Use system settings and the system is set to an Asian system locale.

Vertical

Specifies the vertical position of the text in relation to the top and bottom margins of the text block.

  • Top Aligns the top line of text with the top margin.

  • Middle Centers the text between the top and bottom margins so that the distance from the top line to the top margin equals the distance from the bottom line to the bottom margin.

  • Bottom Aligns the bottom line of text with the bottom margin.

Vertical Text

Specifies that the selected text block sets text from top to bottom, right to left for East Asian text and that the vertical forms of characters are used.

Margins

Top

Specifies the minimum distance between the text and the top edge of the text block.

Bottom

Specifies the minimum distance between the text and the bottom edge of the text block.

Left

Specifies the minimum distance between the text and the left edge of the text block.

Right

Specifies the minimum distance between the text and the right edge of the text block.

Text background

None

Specifies an invisible (transparent) background that reveals shapes behind the text.

Solid color

Specifies the background color. Select More Colors to open the Colors dialog box and specify a custom background color.

Transparency

Determines how opaque or transparent the background color is. Zero percent is completely opaque, and 100 percent is completely transparent.
