An error stops Business Contact Manager for Outlook from starting

Symptoms

During the installation of Business Contact Manager for Outlook, you receive the following message:

An error has occurred which stops Business Contact Manager for Outlook from starting. Remove Business Contact Manager for Outlook, and then reinstall it. If the error recurs, click Help.

Cause

An error may have caused an Outlook .inf file to be corrupted, preventing Business Contact Manager for Outlook from operating effectively.

The error could be caused by installing Business Contact Manager for Outlook without administrator access, or by installing a language version that conflicts with your other Office programs.

Resolutions

The easiest solution is to remove Business Contact Manager for Outlook and reinstall it as an administrator.

Remove Business Contact Manager for Outlook

In Windows XP

  1. On the Start menu, click Programs, and then click Control Panel.

  2. In the Control Panel, in the Category View, click Add or Remove Programs.

  3. Click the Change or Remove Programs tab, and then in the list, click Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2010.

  4. Click Remove, and then follow the instructions on the screen to remove Business Contact Manager for Outlook.

    In Windows Vista and Windows 7

  5. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

  6. In the Control Panel, in the Category View, under Programs and Features, click Uninstall a program.

  7. Click Business Contact Manager for Microsoft Outlook 2010, and then click Uninstall/Change.

  8. Follow the instructions on your screen to remove Business Contact Manager for Outlook.

Reinstall Business Contact Manager for Outlook

  1. Log onto the computer with an administrator account.

  2. Insert the Office DVD labeled Business Contact Manager, and then click Install.

  3. Follow the instructions on your screen to reinstall Business Contact Manager for Outlook.

  4. Start Outlook, and then complete the Business Contact Manager Startup Wizard. If the wizard does not start automatically, you must re-enable Business Contact Manager for Outlook.

    a.In Outlook, click the File tab.

b.Click the Business Contact Manager tab.

c.In the Enable Business Contact Manager section, click the Enable button, and then follow the Startup Wizard instructions.

  1. You can verify that Business Contact Manager for Outlook is installed as follows:

    In Windows XP

    1. On the Start menu, click Programs, and then click Control Panel.

    2. In the Control Panel, in the Category View, click Add or Remove Programs.

    3. Click the Change or Remove Programs tab.

    4. Business Contact Manager for Outlook is installed if it appears in the list of programs.

      In Windows Vista and Windows 7

    5. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

    6. In the Control Panel, in Category View, click Programs and Features.

    7. Click Uninstall a program.

    8. Business Contact Manager for Outlook is installed if it appears in the list of programs.

  2. If Business Contact Manager for Microsoft Outlook 2010 is not listed, you must reinstall the software from the DVD.

For different language versions

If you think that you installed Business Contact Manager for Outlook in a language that is different from the language selected for the other Office programs, the recommended solution is to install Business Contact Manager for Outlook in the same language as the other Office programs. If this solution is not possible, try installing the software as an administrator.

In Windows XP     Log on as an administrator before installing the different language version of Business Contact Manager for Outlook.

In Windows Vista or Windows 7     When installing Business Contact Manager for Outlook, right-click the program or file name, and then click Run as administrator.

With administrator access, you may be able to install a different language version.
