Video: Create a data macro
In Access 2010, you can create data macros that run when you add, update, or delete data in a table. This feature is similar to a "trigger" in Microsoft SQL Server. This video shows you how to create a simple data macro by using the updated Access Macro Designer.

Use this procedure to add a data macro to a table.
-
In the Navigation Pane, double-click the table to which you want to add the macro.
-
On the Table tab, in the Before Events or After Events group, click the event that you want to trigger the macro.
Access opens the Macro Designer. If a macro has already been created for this event, Access displays the macro. -
Build or edit your macro by dragging actions from the Action Catalog pane to the macro pane, and then filling in the required arguments for each action.
-
When you are finished, click Close on the Design tab of the macro builder, and then click Yes to save your changes.
