UML Properties dialog box (Constraints category)

Use the Constraints category to add, edit, or delete constraints.

Constraints

Lists the constraints you have defined.

To quickly edit the most commonly used settings for a constraint, click a field in the Constraints list, and then select or type a value.

To access all of the settings for a constraint, select the constraint in the Constraints list, and then click Properties.

  • Constraint  Type or edit a name for the constraint.

  • Stereotype  Choose the stereotype you want from the drop-down list. If a stereotype you want to use isn't listed, you can add a new stereotype or edit an existing one by choosing UML then clicking Stereotypes.

  • Language  Choose the language you want to write the constraint in.

New

Click to add an undefined constraint to the list of constraints.

To access all of the settings for a constraint, select the constraint in the Constraints list, and then click Properties.

Duplicate

Click to add a new constraint to the list with the same property values as the selected constraint.

Delete

Click to delete the selected constraint form the list.

Properties

After you select a constraint under Constraints, click to display two categories where you can edit the property values associated with the constraint: Constraint and Tagged Values.

Constraint Body

Using natural language or a predefined constraint language, write a Boolean expression that must be true when evaluated for a system, otherwise the system is invalid.
