Special dialog box

Special dialog box

This dialog box identifies the selected shape and includes several text boxes where you can type information about the shape.

ID

Specifies the ID number assigned to the selected shape.

Master

If the shape is an instance of a master, displays the name of the master.

Type

Identifies the type of shape or other object.

Name

Identifies the shape by its default Microsoft Office Visio name or by a name you assign. You can type up to 31 characters for the name.

Note: You cannot use the open rounded bracket ( { ) as the first character of a shape name.

Help

Makes the Help command on the shape's shortcut (right-click) menu available by associating the selected shape with a help numeric ID. Use the following syntax:

FILENAME!#Number

  • Filename is the Windows help file (a .chm file).

  • Number is a numeric ID that is referenced in the MAP section of the help project file.

Note: The default folder for shape and stencil Help files is the Help folder. You can change the default folder by clicking the File Paths button on the Advanced tab of the Options dialog box (on the Tools menu). That folder remains the default until you change it again.

Language

Displays available language settings for the selected shape.

Copyright

Displays copyright information for the selected shape.

Data 1, Data 2, and Data 3

Type information about the shape.

Note  If you create a text field in a shape, one option under Category is Object Info. The information you enter in the Special dialog box appears in the Object Info fields (Data 1, Data 2, Data 3, ID, Master, Name, and Type).
