Proxy Server

You can manage an Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Proxy Server in the following ways:

• Start. Starts the Office Communications Server Proxy service.

• Stop. Stops the Office Communications Server Proxy service.

• Deactivate. Starts the Deactivation Wizard to deactivate the server so that it can no longer be used by other Office Communications Server servers or users.

• Certificates. Starts the Certificate Wizard.

• Properties. Opens the property pages for the server.

Start

If the Proxy service is not configured to start automatically or if the Proxy Server is stopped, you can start it manually.

Stop

If you experience trouble with the server or if you make configuration changes that require you to restart the service, you can stop the Proxy Server and then start it again.

Deactivate

If you want to remove a Proxy Server from your Office Communications Server environment, you must first deactivate the server. The deactivation process disassociates any service accounts that were affiliated with the service upon activation. The deactivation process also removes the server's entries in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) so that the server can no longer be used by the pool.

Certificates

You can assign a new certificate for the Proxy Server to use for Transport Layer Security (TLS) and mutual TLS (MTLS) authentication connections by running the Certificate Wizard.

Properties

If you want to view or change configuration settings for the Proxy Server, you can do so by using the server's property pages, including the following: General, Routing, Certificate, Compression, and Host Authorization.
