Help protect a form template's design

Help protect a form template's design

You can select the Enable protection check box in Microsoft Office InfoPath to discourage users from opening or modifying a form template in design mode. When you enable this setting, the Design this form command is unavailable on the Tools menu in InfoPath when users fill out a form based on this form template.

Notes:

  • Users can still open or modify the form's design by opening the form directly in design mode. However, in such cases, users receive a message stating that the form is protected.

  • To restrict access to your form template, you should apply Information Rights Management (IRM), which is available in the 2007 Microsoft Office system.

  • You can use the Microsoft Office Resource Kit (ORK) to install policy templates that disable the InfoPath design mode for all users except those specified as form template designers. To find the latest information about helping to prevent users from editing your form templates, and to review additional policy settings, visit the Microsoft Office Resource Kit Web site.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Form Options.

  2. Under Category, click Advanced.

  3. Under Protection, select the Enable protection check box.
