Data Conversion Tool in Business Contact Manager

You can use the Data Conversion Tool to convert data from the ACT! and QuickBooks applications into a compatible format, in order to import it into Business Contact Manager for Outlook.

Step 1: Convert

Applications     Select the appropriate version of ACT! or QuickBooks.

Step 2: Select a file to convert

File to convert      Type the path and file name for the file you want to convert, or click Browse to find its location.

Note: Download and install Service Pack 1 for Office 2007 which includes support for importing business data from ACT! 2007/9 and improved support for ACT! 2006/8.

Step 3: Convert data

Data to import      Select the type of ACT! or QuickBooks data that you want to import.

Import data from ACT! 7, ACT! 8, or ACT! 9

Note: Download and install Service Pack 1 for Office 2007 which includes support for importing business data from ACT! 2007/9 and improved support for ACT! 2006/8.

  1. To import Contact data, select Contacts as the default destination, and then select one or more sub-items.

  2. To import Group data, select Accounts as the destination, and then select one or more sub-items.

  3. To import Company data, select Accounts as the default destination, and then select one or more sub-items.

  4. To import Product data, select Products as the the default destination. There are no sub-items to select.

Import data from ACT! 4, ACT! 5, or ACT! 6

Note: Download and install Service Pack 1 for Office 2007 which includes support for importing business data from ACT! 2007/9 and improved support for ACT! 2006/8.

  1. To import Contact data, select Contacts as the default destination, and then select one or more sub-items.

  2. To import Group data, select Accounts as the destination, and then select one or more sub-items.

  3. To import Product data, select Products as the the default destination. There are no sub-items to select.

Import data from QuickBooks

  1. Select Customers data, and then select either Accounts or Contacts as the destination. Then select Vendors and Employees to import as Business Contacts, or select Products to import them as Products.

  2. Destination      Click the down arrow to select a destination.

Step 4: Location of converted file

Name and location of file      Type the path and file name for your converted file, or click Browse to find its location.

Step 5: Conversion complete

  1. Follow the instructions on this screen to import your converted data file into Business Contact Manager for Outlook.

  2. Click Close to close this tool and return to the Business Data Import and Export wizard.

Note: Business Contact Manager for Outlook cannot import ACT! 4, ACT! 5, or ACT! 6 files that are read-only. Read-only is an attribute or property of a file. To change the read-only attribute, find the file on your computer, right-click it, click Properties, and then clear the Read-only check box.
