ISSUE

In Excel for Mac, a new Visual Basic editor was introduced in October 2017. With this new VB editor, there's an issue with creating object declarations by choosing from the drop-down menu at the top of the code window resulting in an error: "Variable uses an Automation type not supported in Visual Basic".

STATUS: WORKAROUND

For the most recent information on this issue, go to "Variable uses an Automation type not supported" error in Visual Basic editor in Excel for Mac.

ISSUE

When you click "Export to Excel" to export a SharePoint list on a Mac, it doesn't open the file in Excel for Mac and instead downloads the query.iqy file. This is working as expected as the internet query connection is not supported by Excel for Mac.

STATUS: WORKAROUND

If you have Excel for Windows, you can save the file as XLSX and then open it in Excel for Mac. You'll be able to see the data but you won't be able to refresh the data connection.

ISSUE

We are aware of an issue affecting Excel 2016 for Mac users. Problems are reported rendering Excel worksheets, causing text to display as backwards or upside-down.

STATUS: WORKAROUND

This occurs on a Mac with macOS High Sierra beta and Excel 2016 for Mac Insider's Fast update. This should be resolved when the next Insider's Fast update is released.

As a workaround, you can uninstall the Excel 2016 for Mac Insider Fast version and install the production version of Excel on your Mac.
