Add Version Filter

Use the Add Version Filter dialog box to specify the filtering options for a new client version.

User Agent Header

Click the name of the agent for the client version that you want to filter:

  • LCC - Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 instant messaging client

  • RTC - Real-Time Communications instant messaging client

  • RTCC - Real-Time Communications and Collaboration client

  • UCCP - Unified Communications Client Platform client

  • OC - Office Communicator 2007 and later instant messaging client

  • WM - Windows Messenger instant messaging client

  • CWA - Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access instant messaging client

  • COMO - Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile instant messaging client

  • LMC - Office Live Meeting client

Version Information

Specify the client version number of the client that you want to filter:

  • Major version number. Version number corresponding to the major release of the client.

  • Minor version number. Version number corresponding to the minor release of the client.

  • Build number. Build number corresponding to the major and minor release of the client.

  • Qfe number. QFE number corresponding to the QFE release of the client.

You can use wildcard characters to specify the client version number.

Select comparison operation to perform

In the drop-down list box, click the matching rule that you want to use to identify the specific version or range of versions of the client to which the filtering action is to apply:

  • < less than

  • <= less than or equal to

  • = equal to

  • >= greater than or equal to

  • > greater than

Select the action to apply to this version

In the drop-down list box, click the desired server response to apply when a client tries to log on using the specified client version:

  • Allow. Allows the client to log on to the pool.

  • Block. Prevents the client from logging on to the pool.

  • Block with Static URL. Prevents the client from logging on to the pool and displays an error message to the user indicating that the client version is not supported.

  • Block and Upgrade. Prevents the client from logging on to the pool and automatically upgrades the client to a supported version. This functionality is available for Office Communicator clients only.

  • Allow and Upgrade. Allows the client to log on to the pool and automatically upgrades the client to a supported version. This functionality is available for Office Communicator clients only.

If you choose the Block with Static URL option, type the client download URL to include in the error message. If you choose the Block with Upgrade or Allow and Upgrade option, type the location of the folder that contains the client upgrade images.

Only one client version filter can exist for each client version. If you want to change the filtering options for a client version, edit the existing filter instead of trying to create a new filter with different filtering options.
