Insert a screen clipping in OneNote Online

Insert a screen clipping in OneNote Online

Capturing visual information on your computer screen is a great way to preserve content that may eventually change or expire — like a breaking news story or a time-sensitive list. If you're using OneNote Online on a Windows PC or device, it's easy to take a quick screen clipping of any part of your screen and then add it as a picture in your notes.

  1. On your screen, bring into view whatever you want to capture.

  2. On your keyboard, press the Windows+Shift+S keys simultaneously.

  3. When the screen dims, use your mouse to click and drag around the part of the screen you want to capture.

Your screen clipping is immediately sent to your clipboard so that you can paste it into any application, including OneNote.

  4. Return to OneNote Online, go to the page where you want to insert the screen clipping, and then press CTRL+V to paste the copied image.

Note: If you frequently need to clip items on your screen, you can try the OneNote Clipper, a fast and simple way to clip content from the Web right into OneNote.
