Filter, Shape, and Transform the Imported Data (Power Query)
Note: Power Query is known as Get & Transform in Excel 2016. Information provided here applies to both. To learn more, see Get & Transform in Excel 2016.
With Power Query, you can filter and shape imported data by editing query steps to match your data analysis requirements.
You can perform a wide variety of data analysis steps including, filtering a table, sorting a table, removing columns, and merging multiple tables. For detailed information about shaping your data, see Shape data in the Power Query for Excel Help.
After filtering and shaping the imported data in Excel, you are now ready to share the improved data as query. For more information, see Share Queries.
Important: When you share a query, the underlying data itself is not shared. Only the query and the metadata provided by the user are shared. When users search and use a shared query in Power Query, the shared query is run within Power Query to return the data that it references.
