Edit an existing resource
Once a resource is added in Microsoft Project Web App, you may find that you have to change the resource's information. Perhaps the resource had a rate change, or has to use a different base calendar.
Edit a resource
-
On the Quick Launch, in the Settings section, click Server Settings.
-
On the Server Settings page, in the Enterprise Data section, click Resource Center.
-
Select the check box in the left column for the row that contains the resource that you are editing.
Tip: If your organization has lots of resources and you cannot easily find the one that you want to edit, you can filter the Resource Center. On the Resources tab, in the Data group, click Custom Filter in the Filter list. Identify the parameters for the resource that you are editing, and then click OK.
-
On the Resources tab, in the Editing group, click Edit Resource.
-
Make changes to the resource data, as needed, and then click Save.
Change multiple resources
In some cases, several resources may require the same change. For example, if several resources use the same timesheet manager, and that person takes a job elsewhere, you must replace the timesheet manager for those resources with whoever steps in as a replacement. Project Web App supports bulk editing of several resources at the same time. You can bulk edit the Timesheet manager, Default Assignment Owner, RBS, Team Name, Cost Type, and Resource Departments fields.
Note: Another good way to edit many resources at the same time is by using Microsoft Project Professional 2010. By making changes through Project Professional 2010, you can add fields that you will not see if you make bulk changes through Microsoft Project Server 2010, and you can also copy and paste from Microsoft Excel or another list.
To make the same change to several resources at the same time:
-
On the Quick Launch, in the Settings section, click Server Settings.
-
On the Server Settings page, in the Enterprise Data section, click Resource Center.
-
Select the check box in the left column for each row that contains a resource that you are editing.
-
On the Resources tab, in the Editing group, click Bulk Edit.
-
For each field that you want to edit, select the Apply Changes check box, to the left of the field, and then make your changes.
Tip: If you have trouble remembering which resources you are editing, expand the Resources Selected section. This section displays a list of all resources that will be changed when you click Save.
-
Click Save to save your changes to all selected resources.
