Overview: 2010 Discussion tool features

A 2010 Discussion tool has two main windows: The topics list, where you see only the Subject line of each topic, and the Body window, where you see the contents of the topic.

1. Topic is checked for "high importance"

3. Click to collapse topic section

4. Click to expand topic section

In addition to clicking the expand (+) or collapse (-) symbols to expand or collapse selected hierarchical sections, you can expand or collapse all hierarchical sections by clicking Expand All or Collapse All on the Home tab of the ribbon.

Changing the design of a Discussion tool

The 2010 Discussion tool is a custom tool built using the SharePoint Workspace Lists tool. Workspace members who have the required permissions assigned to their role ("Has Designer Access") can update the design of the Discussion tool in the Lists tool Designer.
