Text in outlook is truncated or too large for japanese language

Last Updated: July 25, 2019

ISSUE

Japanese customers have reported issues with the readability of some parts of Outlook Desktop. We've heard your feedback and implemented several fixes to address those concerns.

The Segoe UI font has been replaced by the more language-appropriate Meiryo font in the following areas:

  • Message content in the Reading Pane

  • The Sender's name in the Reading Pane

  • New Message Subject font

  • Weather Peek (Label Font)

We have also implemented a fix to address a truncation issue.

We have also implemented fixes to ensure the 'Focused' and 'Other' text fits neatly in the mail pivot header with truncation.

STATUS: FIXED

The fixes have been implemented in build 11328.10000 for Japanese customers in Office Insiders. Those fixes will become available to other customers over the coming months.

Note: If you choose to opt into Office Insider, you'll receive updates that are not supported. For more information, visit the Office Insider page.

Note: If you notice any other Readability issues in Outlook Desktop, please send us your feedback. You can do this by clicking "Feedback" in Outlook's Help Menu. If possible, please include a screenshot to help us to identify the specific issue. Alternatively, please add a Comment in the "Did you find this article useful?" section at the bottom of this article and we will do our best to fix it.
