Generic transfer error

While Lync 2010 makes it quick and easy to transfer calls to contacts, delegates, and other numbers, sometimes an issue can occur during a call transfer. These general steps can help you resolve call transfer errors.

  1. Make sure you place the original caller on hold and mute if call transfer issues must be resolved.

  2. Try to reach the call transfer target or recipient directly without any call transfer involved.

    • If you cannot reach the transfer recipient directly, then the issue is likely not related to call transfer. Make sure you can reach the recipient directly before trying call transfer again.

    • If the recipient is reachable, then connect the transfer recipient with the original caller by merging the two calls together.

  3. Try to add the call transfer target or recipient to the existing conversation window with the original caller (for example, by dragging the recipient onto the conversation window). After everyone is connected, disconnect from the conversation by closing the window.

  4. Try to transfer the call to the target or recipient's phone number instead of Lync account, which relies on Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI) in the Session Initiated Protocol (SIP).

  5. Try to take a message for the call transfer target or recipient if the original caller cannot be transferred or otherwise connected.
