Delete an element from the tree view

In the tree view, right-click the icon representing the element you want to delete, and then click Delete on the shortcut menu.

The element is deleted from the tree view and all views of the element are deleted from diagrams.
Delete a shape from a diagram

Select the shape and press the DELETE key.
If the option Prompt for model element(s) delete on delete of shape(s) is selected in the UML Options dialog box (UML Add-on tab), the Delete Shape message box appears. If this option is not selected, the current view of the element is deleted from the diagram, but the element is not deleted from the model.
Tip: To change the default behavior for deleting an element from a diagram, on the UML menu, click Options. Under UML drawing page behavior on the UML Add-On tab, select or clear Prompt for model element(s) delete on delete of shape(s), and then click OK.

In the Delete Shape message box (appears only when the Prompt option is selected) click one of the following:

Yes to delete only the current view of the element and keep the element in the UML model.

No to delete the current view of the element, the element in the model, and all of its other views.

Change the default delete behavior for UML elements

On the UML menu, click Options.

Under UML drawing page behavior on the UML Add-On tab, select or clear the following option for deleting, and then click OK:
Prompt for model element(s) delete on delete of shape(s)
If this option is selected, each time you delete a shape from a diagram, you are prompted to choose to delete only the shape (the element view) or both the shape and the model element.
If this option is not selected, only the shape (element view) is deleted.
