Back up and restore database items
To back up the data that is stored in the Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 database, you can determine when those backups should occur. You can create an automatic backup that is based on a schedule that you create, or you can back up the database manually.
As an administrator, you can also restore items that have been accidentally deleted from the database.
What do you want to do?
Back up data automatically by using a daily schedule
-
On the Quick Launch, click Server Settings.
-
On the Server Settings page, click Schedule Backup.
-
On the Daily Backup Schedule page, in the Project Retention Policy box, type the number of backups that you want to retain.
Note: Increasing the number of backups requires more database space.
-
For each project item in the Item section, select either Schedule or Never from the Option list to indicate if you want to schedule a backup for that item.
-
If you selected Schedule from the Option list, select the time that you want the backup to occur each day.
-
Click Save.
Back up data manually
-
On the Quick Launch, click Server Settings.
-
On the Server Settings page, click Administrative Backup.
-
In the Select Items section, select the check box next to each project item that you want to back up.
-
Click Backup. The items that you selected are backed up immediately.
Restore project items
-
On the Quick Launch, click Server Settings.
-
On the Server Settings page, click Administrative Restore.
-
In the Item list, select the item that you want to restore.
-
If you selected Projects from the Item list, select the version of the project that you want to restore as the current working version of the project.
Note: The versions that are available for you to restore depend upon the number of backups that have been completed and the total number of backups that you have chosen to retain.
-
Click Restore.
Any changes that were made between when the item was deleted and when the item was most recently backed up cannot be restored.
Why can't I perform some actions in Microsoft Office Project Web Access?
Depending on the permissions settings you used to log on to Project Web Access, you may not be able to see or use certain features. Also, what you see on some pages may differ from what is documented if your server administrator customized Project Web Access and did not customize the Help to match.
