Save presentations

Save files in this format     To specify a default format for saving files, click one of the following in the list:

  • PowerPoint Presentation     This option saves your presentation as a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 presentation, which is an Extensible Markup Language (XML)-enabled file format. Files of this format have the extension .pptx.

  • PowerPoint Macro-Enabled Presentation     This option saves your presentation as an Office PowerPoint 2007 presentation that contains Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code. Files of this format have the extension .pptm.

  • PowerPoint Presentation 97-2003     This option saves your presentation as a presentation that you can open in earlier versions of PowerPoint, from PowerPoint 97 to Office PowerPoint 2003. Files of this format have the extension .ppt.

Save AutoRecover information every x minutes     If you want PowerPoint to automatically save and recover your presentation information in timed intervals, select this check box, and then enter how frequently (in minutes) you want AutoRecover to take place.

Default file location     Type the path to the location where you want to save your presentations.

Offline editing options for document management server files

Save checked-out files to     Click where to save files that reside on a server (server drafts) and that you have checked out:

  • The server drafts location on this computer

  • The web server

Server drafts location     Type the path to the location where you want to save a server draft copy of the file you have checked out, or click Browse to choose a location.

Note: To ensure that your changes are visible to others, you must check the file in, even if the checked-out file is saved to the Web server.

Preserve fidelity when sharing this presentation

To ensure that your presentation appears the way that you intend it to appear when you share it with others, in the Preserve fidelity when sharing this presentation list, click the file name of the presentation whose fidelity and clarity you want to maintain.

Embed fonts in the file     To ensure that the fonts that you used in your presentation appear when you share your presentation with others, even if they do not have the fonts you used installed on their computers, select this check box, and then click one of the following:

  • Embed only the characters used in the presentation (best for reducing the file size)

  • Embed all characters (best for editing by other people)

    Note: When you embed all characters, you embed all the characters in the font set, and the file size will be larger.
