Creating a custom Lists tool by importing InfoPath form template solutions

Creating a custom Lists tool by importing InfoPath form template solutions

You can create a custom Lists tool using template form solutions designed in Microsoft Office InfoPath. A Lists tool designer will typically perform the following tasks in the process of developing a custom Lists tool:

  1. Create a Groove workspace, and add a new Lists tool.

  2. Click Start Here to enter the Lists tool designer.

During tool development iterations, you can enter the designer by clicking the View tab, and then clicking Enter Designer.

In the Designer, do the following tasks:

    1. Create form templates.

Lists tool users create items by filling out form templates.

    2. Create views for sorting list items.

    3. Set other design features in the Lists designer, such as style transforms, view filters, and sorts.

    4. Enable or disable settings and options for the tool, such as allowing users to search and to change views.

    5. Save and publish the design changes to the Lists tool.

    6. Test and update the design until it is ready for data entry.

Typically, updating the design requires making changes to form template solutions in InfoPath and re-importing them, as well as updates to settings in the custom Lists tool in SharePoint Workspace.
