Reports dialog box
Use the Reports dialog box to select the report you want to generate. You can:

Select the category of the report you want to run.

Select the specific report within the selected category.

View a preview of the report to be printed.

Edit the definition and details of a specific report.

On the Report menu, click Reports.
Details
Reports categories dialog box
Overview Opens the Overview Reports dialog box, which you can use to select, edit, and generate an overview report such as Project Summary or Critical Tasks.
Current Activities Opens the Current Activity Reports dialog box, which you can use to select, edit, and generate a report about current tasks. Examples include the Tasks Starting Soon and Tasks In Progress reports.
Costs Opens the Cost Reports dialog box, which you can use to select, edit, and generate a cost report, such as Cash Flow and Budget.
Assignments Opens the Assignment Reports dialog box, which you can use to select, edit, and generate an assignment report, such as the Who Does What report and the To-do List report.
Workload Opens the Workload Reports dialog box, which you can use to select, edit, and generate the Task Usage report or Resource Usage report.
Custom Opens the Custom Reports dialog box, which you can use to adapt an existing report or create an entirely new report.
Reports dialog box command buttons
Select Opens the dialog box containing the list of reports for the selected category. The same happens when you double-click the report category.
Close Closes the Reports dialog box.
Categorized reports
A series of categorized report dialog boxes, for example, Overview Reports and Current Activity Reports are available when you double-click one of the report categories in the Reports dialog box. For example, when you double-click Costs in the Reports dialog box, the Cost Reports dialog box appears, listing buttons for all the built-in overview reports, including Cash Flow and Budget.
In turn, double-click the button for one of the categorized reports, and a preview of the report appears as it will be printed. You can navigate through the report, change the page setup, and print the report.
Categorized report command buttons
Select Displays the print preview of the selected report.
Edit Opens a dialog box that controls the definition and details for the type of report that's currently selected. If Budget Report is selected, for example, the Task Report dialog box appears, containing all the information that defines the Budget Report. If Overallocated Resources is selected, the Resource Report dialog box appears. If the Who Does What When report is selected, the Crosstab Report dialog box appears. Use the dialog box to edit the definition and details of the selected report.
Close Closes the report category dialog box, showing the Reports dialog box again, which lists all report categories.
Report preview window
When you double-click the button for one of the categorized reports, the report preview window appears, showing the report as it will be printed.
Navigation buttons
Page Left In a multi-page report, shows the page to the left of the currently displayed page. If there is no page to the left, or if this is a one-page report, this button is dimmed.
Page Right In a multi-page report, shows the page to the right of the currently displayed page. If there is no page to the right, or if this is a one-page report, this button is dimmed.
Page Up In a multi-page report, shows the page above the currently displayed page. If the preview window is already showing the top page in the report, or if this is a one-page report, this button is dimmed.
Page Down In a multi-page report, shows the page below the currently displayed page. If the preview window is already showing the bottom page in the report, or if this is a one-page report, this button is dimmed.
View buttons
Zoom Increases the size of the report. This can also be done by simply clicking on the report preview itself in the location that you want to see the zoom. The mouse pointer is a magnifying glass with a plus sign before you click to zoom up the report. The pointer changes to a minus sign in a zoomed-up report. Click the report to reduce it down again.
One Page Shows a single page in a multi-page report. If the report is zoomed up, this button also returns the previewed report to its original size.
Multiple Pages Shows several pages in a multi-page report in a single preview window. In a single-page report, this button is dimmed.
Command buttons
Page Setup Opens the Page Setup dialog box showing the tabs and controls applicable to the selected report. Use this dialog box to set the page orientation, scaling, margins, header and footer, and so on.
Print Opens the Print dialog box, in which you can specify the number of copies, the specific pages to print, and more.
Close Closes the report preview window and returns to the Reports dialog box, which lists all report categories.
