Word provides file format converters to open some files that were created in other applications. These converters are installed with Word.
-
On the Standard toolbar, click Open a document .
-
On the Enable pop-up menu, click the file type that you want to open.
If you don't see the file type, or if you don't know the file type, click All Files.
-
Locate the document that you want to open, and then double-click it.
Notes:
-
Because Word must convert the file to open it, some changes might occur in the document's formatting, graphics, and fonts.
-
To open a document that you used recently, on the File menu, point to Open Recent, and then click the file name.
