Send an instant message

To send a message to someone who is on your Contacts list

1. In the Contacts list, tap the name of the person that you want to send an instant message to.

2. Tap Send Instant Message.

3. Type your message, and then either tap Send or tap the RETURN key.

To send a message to someone who is not on your Contacts list

1. Tap Menu > Find/Add Contact.

2. Tap Find by Display Name, and then tap one of the listed search options.

3. Tap the box. Type the first name, last name, e-mail address, or display name of the person you are searching for, and then tap Find.

4. Under Search Result(s), tap the name of the person that you want to contact.

5. Tap Send Instant Message.

6. Type your message, and then either tap Send or tap the RETURN key.

To send a message to a group on your Contacts list

• In the Contacts list, tap the group name that includes all the people that you want to send an instant message to, and then tap Send IM.

  Notes: 

  • Because Communicator Mobile limits a conversation to 32 participants, including yourself, you cannot send a message to a group that contains more than 31 contacts.

  • You cannot send a message to a group that contains no users.

  • You can send a message only to a group that you created. You cannot send a message to a default group, such as Other Contacts or All Contacts.
