Word documents use portrait (or vertical) orientation, because text works well in this format. But if your document contains something that's horizontal, like tables, you can change the orientation to landscape. Take this course to learn more, including how to use both landscape and portrait in the same document, and design considerations for headers, footers, and page numbers.
