Configure alerts for presence status and incoming conversations

You can configure alerts so that Communicator Mobile will notify you when a contact's presence status changes.

Note: If your device receives multiple alerts for one contact's presence changes in quick succession, you will only see the last alert.

To configure visual alerts for presence status and incoming conversations

  1. In the main window, tap Menu > Options.

  2. Tap the Alerts tab. Select the Display status alerts check box, and then do one of the following:

    • To be notified when the status for contacts that you have tagged changes to Online or Offline, tap the list, and then tap Tagged contacts only.

    • To be notified when the status for any contact changes to Online, tap the list, and then tap All contacts.

  3. To receive an alert when someone invites you to a conversation, select the Display instant message alerts check box.

  4. When you are done, tap ok.

Note: Ensure that you configure your device's Alerts settings, in addition to configuring alerts in Communicator Mobile, as described in the following procedures.

To configure device alerts

  1. Tap Start > Settings.

  2. Tap Sounds & Notifications, and then tap the Notifications tab.

  3. Tap the Event list, and then do one or both of the following, according to your preferences:

    • To receive an audio alert when you receive a new message, tap New message: Communicator, and then select the Play sound check box. Optionally, select the Vibrate check box to also make the device vibrate when you receive an incoming conversation.

    • To receive an audio alert when the status of a tagged contact changes, tap Status change: Communicator, and then select the Play sound check box. Optionally, select the Vibrate check box to also make the device vibrate when you receive a presence update.

  4. When you are done, tap ok.
