Use a screen reader to insert a picture in an email message in Mail for Windows 10
Add a picture or image to an email in Mail for Windows 10 to make your message more personal, or to share more information than words alone provide.
To insert a picture in an email message

When you're editing an email message, press the Alt key to get to the ribbon.

Press the Right Arrow key until you reach the Insert tab, and then use the Down Arrow key to move to the lower ribbon.

Press the Tab key to get to the Pictures button.

Press Enter to open File Explorer and locate the picture file. File Explorer automatically opens the Pictures folder on your computer, and positions the cursor in the File Name box.

Type the file name for the picture that you want, or press Shift+Tab to browse for it.

Press Enter to insert the picture in the email message.

When you insert a picture in a message, Mail for Windows 10 adds the Picture tab to the ribbon and places focus there.

Press the Down Arrow key to move to the lower ribbon.

On the lower ribbon, press the Tab key to move between the buttons and select options to format your picture.

Picture position, to set specific measurements for width and height of picture.

Add alt text to a picture

When you want to add alt text to a picture in the body of your email, select the image by placing the cursor to the left side of the image, holding the Shift key, and pressing the Right Arrow key.
You can select an inline image in Mail for Windows 10 the same way you would select a text character. When you select the image, Mail adds the Picture tab to the ribbon.

Press the Alt key to go directly to the ribbon, and press Tab to move to the Picture tab.

Press the Down Arrow key to go to the lower ribbon, press the Tab key to move to the Alt Text button, and then press Enter.

Type a title, press the Tab key, and then type a description.

Press the Esc key to close the Alt Text box. Mail automatically saves the alternative text that you typed.
