Submit my timesheet

Submit my timesheet

After you enter your actual work on your timesheet for a reporting period, you can submit your timesheet for approval.

  1. On the Quick Launch, under My Work, click My Timesheets.

  2. In the Timesheet Name column, click the timesheet that you want to submit.

If you do not see the timesheet that you want to modify, select a timesheet for a different time period from the View list on the right side of the toolbar.

  3. Type your hours for the reporting period in the grid.

If you have multiple tasks with the same name, you might find it helpful to view a task's path within the project to make sure that you are entering time for the correct task. Select the task and then click the drop-down arrow that appears to the right of the task. Click Task path to display a window that shows that task's position within the project's hierarchy.

If you are unsure of which task and column you have selected when entering time in the timesheet grid, the selected task and column are displayed below the grid, just above the buttons on the My Timesheet page.

If your server administrator has set up the My Timesheet page to accept remaining work, you can change the remaining work on each task as your estimate of the task's completion changes.

Note: The task path, task and column identifier, and remaining work features are available as part of the Infrastructure Update for Microsoft Office Servers. Contact your administrator for more information.

  4. If you want to send a comment to your manager about the time that you entered, click Settings in the toolbar and then click Timesheet Header Data. Type your comment in the Comment box. If you want to rename your timesheet, type a new name in the Title box.

  5. Click Save and Submit to begin submitting your timesheet.

  6. In the dialog box that appears, verify that the name in the Pick next approver box is the correct approver for your timesheet. This box displays your manager's name, by default.

If the next approver is not your manager, type the name of the correct approver in the Pick next approver box, or click Browse to select the approver from a list of all Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 users in your organization.

Note: If your organization has chosen fixed routing for timesheets, this dialog box will not appear.

  7. Type any additional comments that you want to send to the approver in the Comment box.

Note: Your timesheet may need to be approved by more than one manager before your hours are reflected in the project. However, any administrative time that you submit may be reported without approval, depending on your organization's settings.

Why can't I perform some actions in Microsoft Office Project Web Access?

Depending on the permissions settings you used to log on to Project Web Access, you may not be able to see or use certain features. Also, what you see on some pages may differ from what is documented if your server administrator customized Project Web Access and did not customize the Help to match.
