Distribute shapes

Distribute shapes

The following steps show how to use the Distribute Shapes command to evenly space three or more selected shapes on the drawing page. For more information about arranging Visio shapes, see the links in the See Also section.

  1. Select three or more shapes by holding down SHIFT or CTRL while clicking shapes.

Note: The Distribute Shapes command is disabled if you don't select three or more shapes.

  2. On the Shape menu, click Distribute Shapes.

Tip: You can also click the Distribute Shapes button on the Action toolbar. If you don't see the Action toolbar, right-click the menu bar or any toolbar, and click Action.

  3. Choose a distribution option.

    • For Vertical distribution, the boundaries are defined by the top and bottom shapes in the selection.

  4. To add guides and glue the shapes to them, select the Create guides and glue shapes to them check box.

If you choose this option, you can move an outermost guide to redistribute all the shapes.
