Resolve document library errors when using OneNote 2016 for Windows with SharePoint
If you have OneNote 2016 notebooks on SharePoint, you'll notice that they're typically stored in document libraries. If the SharePoint library that you're using has any of the following properties enabled, it could cause sync errors in OneNote:

Required check-in/check-out

Minor versions
-
Any required properties columns
Note: You might need SharePoint administrator privileges to view or change these properties. If you can't make changes, contact the SharePoint administrator in your organization.
Turn off required check in/check out in the SharePoint document library

In SharePoint, navigate to the document library.

In your document library, click Settings , and then click Library settings.
If you don't see Settings , click the Library tab to open the ribbon, and then click Library Settings.

Select Versioning settings.

Set the Require Check Out option to No.
Turn off minor versions in the SharePoint document library

In SharePoint, navigate to the document library.

In your document library, click Settings , and then click Library settings.
If you don't see Settings , click the Library tab to open the ribbon, and then click Library Settings.

Select Versioning settings.

Set the Document Version History option to Create major versions.
Turn off required properties in the SharePoint document library

In SharePoint, navigate to the document library.

In your document library, click Settings , and then click Library settings.
If you don't see Settings , click the Library tab to open the ribbon, and then click Library Settings.

Under the table titled Columns, see if any items have a check mark under the Required column.

Select any item marked as "required," and then set the Require that this column contains information option to No.
