Last updated: October 6, 2017

Issue

When attempting to sign in to Microsoft OneNote for Android, the app may unexpectedly close with the following message:

"Unfortunately, OneNote has stopped."

This issue can occur when using OneNote with the following:

  • Samsung Galaxy S8

  • Samsung Galaxy S8+

  • Samsung Galaxy S7

  • Google Chrome (Version 61)

Workaround

The OneNote product team is actively investigating this issue. We will update this article as soon as more information is available.

Please try the following workarounds to see if they resolve the issue on your device.

Sign in to another Microsoft application

Before you attempt to sign back in to OneNote, try signing in to another Microsoft app.

  1. If necessary, download another Microsoft app to your Samsung Galaxy phone, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, or Skype.

  2. Sign in with the same account that you're trying to use with OneNote.

  3. If your sign in is successful in the other app, restart OneNote, and then try signing in with that same account.

Turn on Developer Options

If signing in with another Microsoft app did not resolve the issue, try the following:

  1. On your Samsung Galaxy phone, go to Settings > About Phone > Software Information.

  2. Find the Build number, and then tap it seven times.

Developer Options should now appear in Settings.

  3. In Settings, go to Developer Options, and then enable Multiprocess WebView.

  4. Restart OneNote, and then try signing in again.

Please send us your feedback
