Configure Information Rights Management
Note: Visit www.microsoft.com for the most up-to-date and comprehensive information.
Information Rights Management (IRM) helps protect sensitive files from being misused or distributed without permission after they are downloaded.
Important: Before using IRM, you must have a Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) server to connect to and you must have installed the Windows Rights Management Services Client Service Pack 2 on every Web front-end in the SharePoint farm.
-
On the top navigation bar, click Operations.
-
In the Security Configuration section, click Information Rights Management.
-
On the Information Rights Management page, in the Information Rights Management section, select one of the following:
-
Do not use IRM on this server. Select this option if you do not want to use IRM.
-
Use the default RMS server specified in Active Directory. Select this option if your organization has specified the RMS server in Active Directory.
-
Use this RMS server. If you select this option, type the protocol and the RMS server name in the corresponding box (for example, type http://rms_server).
-
-
Click OK.
