Block or allow incoming conversations

When you add someone to your Contact List, that person is automatically granted permission to view your presence status, see your contact information, and invite you to conversations. Whether or not a person is on your Contact List, you can block that person from doing these things. When you block someone, that person sees your presence status as Offline, and you cannot initiate a conversation with that person.

To block a person who is on your Contact List

  1. In the Contact List, tap the name of the person that you want to block.

  2. Tap Menu > Access Levels > Blocked.

  3. Tap OK to confirm.

To block a person who is not on your Contact List

  1. Tap Menu > Find/Add Someone.

  2. Tap Find by display name, and then select one of the listed search options.

  3. Tap the box. Type the first name, last name, e-mail address, or display name of the person that you want to block, and then tap Find.

  4. Under Search Results, tap the name of the person that you want to block, and then tap Select.

  5. Tap Menu > Access Levels > Blocked.

  6. Tap OK to confirm.

To block someone during a conversation

  1. In the conversation window, tap Menu > Actions.

  2. In the Contact Card, tap Menu > Access Levels > Blocked.

  3. Tap OK to confirm.

To remove a block on a person who is on your Contact List

  1. In the Contact List, tap the name of the person that you want to unblock.

  2. Tap Menu > Access Levels, and then tap an access level other than Blocked.

  3. Tap OK to confirm.

To remove a block on a person who is not on your Contact List

  1. Tap Menu > Find/Add Someone.

  2. Tap Find by display name, and then select one of the listed search options.

  3. Tap the box. Type the first name, last name, e-mail address, or display name of the person that you want to unblock, and then tap Find.

  4. Under Search Results, tap the name of the person that you want to unblock, and then tap Select.

  5. Tap Menu > Access Levels, and then tap an access level other than Blocked.

  6. Tap OK to confirm.
