Set Ringtones and Sounds options

You use the Lync - Options dialog box to set ringtones for your phone and other sounds, such as for notifications.

What do you want to do?

Open Ringtones and Sounds options

Assign ringtones to calls

Choose when to play sounds

Stop all Lync sounds

Set specific sounds

Open Ringtones and Sounds options

To view these options, open Lync, and do the following:

  • In the Lync main window, click the Options button, and then click Ringtones and Sounds.

Assign ringtones to calls

Microsoft Lync Online communications software provides a choice of ringtones, and you can specify different tones for different types of calls.

  1. View Ringtones and Sounds options, and, in the Calls to list, click the type of call to which you want to apply a ringtone.

  2. In the Ringtone list, click the ringtone you want. Lync Online plays a test tone for you.

Choose when to play sounds

By default, Lync plays sounds with certain events. However, there may be times when you don't want to hear sounds, such as when you have set your status to Do Not Disturb.

Stop all Lync sounds

  • View Ringtones and Sounds options, and then, clear the Play sounds in Lync (including ringtones for incoming alerts and IM alerts) check box.

Set specific sounds

  1. View Ringtones and Sounds options, click the Sound Settings button.

  2. In the Sound dialog box, click the Sounds tab.

  3. Under Program Events, scroll down to Microsoft Lync 2010.

  4. Click an event (such as Call Ended).

  5. In the Sounds list, click a sound file. To hear it, click Test.
