Description    The Task Name field contains the name of the task to which an assignment belongs.

How Calculated    The content of the Task Name field for assignments is equivalent to the Name field for the task.

Best Uses    You want to see each task name associated with its assignments. Display the Resource Usage view to see task names under the assigned resource, or the Task Usage view to see assigned resources under the task names. You can also display the Task Form in combination with a resource sheet to see task names for the selected resource. This field also appears in the Assignment Mapping dialog box of the Export Wizard, which you can use when importing or exporting assignment dates.

Example    You want to export assignment dates to an Excel workbook. You create your export map and include the Task Name field along with other assignment information to be exported to Excel.

Remarks    To export the Task Name field to another program, in the Save as type dialog box, select the name of the file format to which you are exporting (for example, Microsoft Access Database or Microsoft Excel Workbook) and then work through the Export Wizard.
