Adjust the washout effect of a watermark

Go to File > Print to see how your watermark will look on the page.

Picture watermark

  1. Double-click near the top of the page to open the header.

  2. Move the cursor over the watermark until you see the four-headed arrow, and then click the watermark to select it.

  3. Under Picture Tools, select Format.

  4. Try selecting Recolor, Brightness, or Contrast.

Text watermark

  1. Double-click near the top of the page to open the header.

  2. Move the cursor over the watermark until you see the four-headed arrow, and then click the watermark to select it.

  3. Under WordArt Tools, select Format.

  4. Select Shape Fill.

  5. Try:

    • Selecting a lighter or darker shade.

    • Selecting More Fill Colors, and adjusting Transparency.

  6. Select OK.

Picture watermark

  1. Double-click near the top of the page to open the header.

  2. Double-click the watermark to open Format Picture, and then select the Picture tab.

  3. Try selecting Picture Transparency or Picture Corrections.

Text watermark

To change the look of a watermark, replace it with a new one.

  1. Select Design > Watermark

  2. Select Text, and enter your text watermark.

  3. Try selecting Font Color or Transparency.

  4. Select OK.
