What happened to the wizards?

After the Office 2003 release, the wizards, such as calendar or memo wizards and resume wizards in Word and chart wizard in Excel were replaced with templates that are available on the Microsoft Office.com website.

Note: If you are an Office 365 subscriber and you have joined the Office Insider program, you can use the Resume Assistant in Word to build your resume. For more information, see Write your best resume in Word with help from LinkedIn in Resume Assistant.

What do you want to do?

To view templates in Word:

  1. Click the File tab.

  2. Click New.

  3. Under Available Templates, click the template you want to use.

To view the available Excel templates:

  1. Click the File tab.

  2. Click New.

  3. Under Available Templates, click the template you want to use.

Note: During the Office 2007 release, the Office.com website was named Microsoft Office Online.

View Word 2007 templates

To view Word 2007 templates:

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button Office button image .

  2. Click New.

  3. Under Templates, click the template you want to use.

View Excel 2007 templates

To view the available Excel 2007 templates:

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button Office button image .

  2. Click New.

  3. Under Templates, click the template you want to use.
