Approve or reject administrative time

Approve or reject administrative time

If your organization requires approval of administrative time, and if you have Approval permissions, you can approve or reject administrative time that is submitted by the resources whom you manage.

Note: If an administrative task has no assigned approver, reported time is automatically approved and added to the task; if you are the approver, any work you submit for that task is automatically approved.

What do you want to do?

Approve administrative time

When a resource submits a request for administrative time, the administrative time is added to his or her timesheet and is available for entering hours. However, the resource cannot submit the timesheet until the administrative time request has been approved.

Note: Changes to a resource's availability are made only after administrative time is approved. For example, if a resource is planning a vacation, the administrative time for that vacation must be approved before the resource's availability will be changed.

  1. On the Quick Launch, under Approvals, click Admin Time.

  2. Select the check box next to each administrative time request that you want to approve, and then click Accept.

After an administrative time request is approved, an indicator is displayed on the resource's timesheet.

Note: Administrative time that does not require approval is considered approved when a resource adds the time as planned.

Reject administrative time

When a resource submits a request for administrative time, the administrative time is added to his or her timesheet and is available for entering hours. However, if the administrative time request is rejected, the resource is prompted to delete the line from the timesheet or obtain approval before he or she can submit the timesheet.

  1. On the Quick Launch, under Approvals, click Admin Time.

  2. Select the check box next to each administrative time request that you want to reject, and then click Reject.

After an administrative time request is rejected, an indicator is displayed on the resource's timesheet. The resource can modify the administrative time request and then save it again to resubmit it for approval, or accept the rejection and delete the line from the timesheet before submitting it.

Why can't I perform some actions in Project Web Access?

Depending on the permissions settings you used to log on to Project Web Access, you may not be able to see or use certain features. Also, what you see on some pages may differ from what is documented if your server administrator customized Project Web Access and did not customize the Help to match.
