Graphic file types
Microsoft Picture Manager allows you to manage your pictures, including viewing, editing, and copmressing the files.
Note: Picture Manager is not supported in Office 2013 and later versions.
The following table lists file types and what you can do with them.
File type | What you can do |
JPEG | View, edit, and compress the files. |
WMF/EMF | View and compress the files. You can also save the file to a format that Picture Manager lets you edit. |
TIFF | View and edit the first page only and compress the files. |
GIF | View, edit, and compress the files. You cannot view the animation for an animated GIF. The image will be static. If you edit the file and save over the original file, you will lose the animation. |
PNG | View, edit, and compress the files. |
BMP | View, edit, and compress the files. |
Note: With non-graphic file types and unsupported graphic file types you will have limited choices. You can view a list of these files, but you cannot view or edit their content in Picture Manager.
