Key points in this video

Signing in to Office for iPad is easy because you can sign in with almost any kind of Microsoft account or Office 365 account. Here are a few tips for signing in:

  • Try signing in with your school account. Some schools have purchased Office 365 subscriptions for students. That subscription may allow you to sign in.

  • Try using your work account. Your company may have purchased Office 365 subscriptions for employees.

  • Have you purchased Office 365 Home or Office 365 Personal? Those accounts work, too. Just sign in with the email address and password associated with your subscription, and you'll be good to go.

  • You might have already created a Microsoft account that you can sign in with. Hotmail, OneDrive, Outlook.com, Skype, Windows 8, Windows Phone, and Xbox live -- all of these accounts work too.

  • Don't sign in with your AppleID.

  • You can sign in with more than one account. After signing in the first time, simply tap Account > Add a Service.

With Office for iPad, I can work on Excel files, PowerPoint slides, and Word docs when I'm on the go.

But first, I've gotta log in. Let me show you how.

I'm gonna use Excel, but keep in mind it works the same way in PowerPoint and Word.

The first thing to remember is: I don't sign in with my AppleID.

Instead, I can sign in with my work account, or school account that I use to access Office 365.

Or, I can sign in with a Microsoft account.

If you have any of these:

  • Hotmail

  • OneDrive

  • Outlook.com

  • Skype

  • Windows 8

  • Windows Phone

  • Xbox live

...you already have an account.

If you don't have one, you can create one for free (by tapping the Create an Account button).

I happen to have an Outlook.com account already so I'm going to tap: Sign in.

I'll type my email address, and then type my password. Now I'm ready to create and edit files.
