Installation prerequisites

The following are requirements for Microsoft Lync 2010 for Windows Phone 7.5 clients:

Installing the Microsoft Lync 2010 application on your mobile phone is as easy as installing any other application on your phone.

  1. From your phone, go to Marketplace, and search for Microsoft Lync 2010.

  2. Tap the Install button. As soon as the app is installed, it appears on your phone.

Remove Lync

To remove the Lync application from your phone, do the following:

  1. Touch and hold your finger on the Lync app icon, and then tap Uninstall.

  2. As soon as the app disappears, the app is removed from your phone.

Sign in to Lync

If you have a data plan, or your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network, signing in is as easy as launching an application.

  • Start the Lync app, and on the sign-in screen, enter your credentials, and then tap Sign In.

Sign out of Lync

  1. To sign out of Lync, from the my info screen, tap your current status.

  2. From the SET YOUR STATUS screen, tap sign out.

Use Lync for the first time

The first time you sign in to Lync, you're guided through adding your mobile phone number. By adding your mobile phone number, you can use your mobile phone to join Lync conferences, or make and receive calls.

The Mobile phone number that is specified is used by Microsoft Lync Server 2010 to set up outgoing work calls. When you make a work call, the call is routed to Lync Server 2010, which calls you back at your mobile phone number. After you answer the call, Lync Server places the call to the call recipient.

During your first sign-in, Lync lets you set your incoming work calls to simultaneously ring on your mobile number. The Simultaneously Ring option specifies that all your devices that are running Lync, including your computer and desk phone, display an alert when you receive an incoming call to your work number. Also, you can use the Simultaneously Ring option to specify that Lync rings your home number, or a new number. For call forwarding and simultaneous ring options, see Call forward and simultaneous ring.

Note:  The My Mobile Number and simultaneous ring options are set by your system administrator. If you don't see these options, contact your technical support team for information.

  1. When you first sign in, type your Windows Phone number, and then tap Next.

  2. On the next screen, tap Next to allow your work calls to simultaneously ring on your mobile phone number.

  3. To receive an alert when a Lync contact is trying to get in touch with you, on the Turn on Lync push notifications screen, tap the checkmark button.

Note:  To make changes to your call options after the first sign-in, at the bottom of the my info screen, tap Simultaneously ringing, Forwarding calls to, or Call forwarding is off, depending on what your previous call options were set to.
