Date1-10 fields

Date1-10 fields

The Date1 through Date10 fields are custom fields that store any task, resource, or assignment date information you want.

There are several categories of Date1-10 fields.

Data Type    Date

Date1-10 (task fields)

Entry Type    Calculated or entered

Best Uses    Add one or more custom date fields to a task view to maintain additional date information on your tasks.

Example    You want to include an estimated completion date for the work on a milestone phase. You can add the Date1 field to a task sheet and rename it "Estimated Completion Date." Then for all milestone tasks, you enter the estimated completion date in this field.

Remarks    Any date you enter in a custom date field does not affect Microsoft Project calculations. If no date is entered, the field contains "NA."

You can create custom value lists, formulas, and graphical indicators for any of the custom date fields. You can also create custom attributes or rename the custom date field, in the Custom Fields dialog box. Specifying a formula causes the field to become read-only.

You can copy the custom fields you create, along with all their attributes, to other project files, in the Organizer dialog box.

Date1-10 (resource fields)

Entry Type    Calculated or entered

Best Uses    Add one or more custom date fields to a resource sheet to maintain additional date information on your resources. Examples include hire date, birthday, or start date on the project.

Example    You want to add birthdays to your resource information. You add the Date1 field to the Resource Sheet view, and rename it "Birthday." Then you enter the birthdays for all resources in this field.
