Using the Transfer, Hold, Audio, and Dialing Controls

Overview of Call Controls
When you make or answer an audio call using Communicator, the Conversation window opens. The Conversation window offers a variety of call controls that you can use to transfer a call, put a call on hold, or adjust your speaker or microphone volume.

| Display the dial pad during a call to enter numbers such as a pass code required by a conferencing service. |
| Toggle audio from a call between the USB telephony device and other speakers. This control only appears if you have a USB telephony device attached to your PC and you have configured your audio device to play call audio on a separate device from your USB telephony device. |

Ending a Call or Placing a Call on Hold

To end a call, click the End Call button.

To place a call on hold, click the Hold button. This mutes your audio for that conversation. However, you can still use Communicator to initiate or answer other conversations.
Transfering a Call
To transfer a call to another user

In the Conversation window, click the Transfer button, and then click the contact to whom you are transferring the call. For transfer options, move your mouse to the right of the contact name. Click a contact name or phone number in the list, and then click OK. Expected Result: The call is transferred to another user, and you are disconnected from the call.
To transfer a call to another device

Click the Transfer button, click Personal Transfer, and then click the device where you want the call transferred.
Using the Consult and Transfer Feature
Imagine you are on a call with a person we will calll Contact 1. You realize that Contact 1 should really talk to Contact 2 if she is available. You place Contact 1 on hold, start a conversation with Contact 2, verify that Contact 2 is available and willing to take a call, and then return to your original conversation. To transfer your call so that Contact 1 is speaking with Contact 2:

In the Conversation window of your calll with Contact 1, click the Transfer button, and then click the name of the person you want to take the call.
Using the Speakerphone

To toggle audio from a call between the USB telephony device and other speakers, click the Speakerphone button.
Note: This control only appears if you have a USB telephony device attached to your PC and you have configured your audio device to play call audio on a separate device from your USB telephony device.
Using the Dial Pad
During a call, you may need to enter numbers to navigate a telephone menu system or enter a security code. To use the dial pad:

Click the Dial Pad control, and the Dial Pad window appears. You can then enter numbers using either the keyboard or the mouse. Click the Close button when you are done.
Muting or Adjusting Audio

To mute or un-mute audio, click the Mute Speakers or Mute Microphone button as appropriate. The call continues normally without being placed on hold.

To mute your microphone during a conference call, click the Conference Call button, and then click Mute My Line. Others on the conference call see your audio as muted in the Participant List.

To adjust the volume of your speakers or headset, click the arrorw to the right of the Mute Call button, and then move the volume slider to the desired level.
