What happened to the Database window?

The Database window is no longer available. It has been replaced by the Navigation Pane and the Create tab on the ribbon.

You use the Navigation Pane to open and modify existing database objects. For example, if you want to open a table in Design view or run a report, you can perform those tasks from the Navigation Pane.

You use the Create tab to create new objects. For example, if you want to run the Query Wizard to create a new query, on the Create tab, in the Query group, click Query Wizard.

By default, the Navigation Pane is displayed on the left side of the screen. You cannot move the Navigation Pane, but you can open and close it, and you can also hide it completely.

Tip:  To show or hide the Navigation Pane, press F11.

The Navigation Pane is more customizable than the Database Window. You can create arbitrary categories and groups of objects and organize them however you want.
