New Pattern / Pattern Properties dialog box

New Pattern / Pattern Properties dialog box

Name

Specifies the name of the pattern.

Type

Specifies the pattern. Click Fill pattern, Line pattern, or Line end.

Behavior

This option varies, depending on the Type you've selected.

Fill Pattern Behavior specifies whether the pattern is repeated (tiled), centered, or maximized in the available space, and whether the pattern can be scaled.

A star used as a fill pattern

You can use a shape like a star to create a fill pattern.

"A fill pattern that has been repeated, centered, and maximized"

The fill pattern's properties affect how the shape is applied to a line. The first circle shows a tiled pattern. The second circle shows a centered pattern. The third circle shows the pattern maximized in the available space.

Line Pattern Behavior specifies how the pattern you draw should be used when the line curves, and whether the pattern can be scaled.

Line End Behavior specifies whether the line end should be rotated with the line, and whether the line end can be scaled.

Scaled

Scales the pattern as the drawing page scale changes.
